About the project
I'm raising £2000 to attend the Tamarind Institute's Summer Lithography Workshop in July 2019 in Alburquerque, USA. I have been offered one of eight places on the course and will learn aluminium plate processing and printing from the best in the world.
Tamarind is the only lithographic training centre in the world and I will really be learning from the best. The technique of lithography is rare in UK and this is an opportunity to to be missed. I will use this opportunity to combine aluminium plate and stone lithography to enhance my skills. I will then use these skills on my return to the UK to develop my own art practice, teach the process to others in printmaking workshops and collaborate with artists.
I am a MA Multi-disciplinary printmaking graduate and since 2014 have worked at The Curwen Studio, London as a collaborative lithographic printer making limited editions of lithographs for artists and am currently Junior Fellow on the Drawing and Print BA at UWE. I use stone, zinc plate and photo plate lithography.
I fell in love with lithography on my MA Print Course at UWE, and since then my focus has been on working in the medium. I draw and layer together elements of inner worlds based somewhere between reality and fiction. These are then constructed through the printmaking process. My job is to make limited edition prints and I am constantly learning new techniques and skills, however Curwen do not offer aluminium plate lithography and I am desperate to learn how to do it; where better than Tamarind?
Where will the money go?
If I hit my target then £1,300 will be spent on course fees, and £500 on materials such as printmaking paper and drawing materials and £400 towards accommodation costs.
RewardsThere are 50 randomly selected miniprints up for grabs from the UWE's MA Multidisciplinary Printmaking student and alumni fundraising scheme.
There are three lithographs of mine also up for grabs, 14 x 20cm.
